There are basically two kinds of heaters for your home – forced air furnaces and hot water heating. Hot water heating requires a boiler that sends heated water through pipes to radiators or heat panels throughout your home.
While the equipment is called a boiler, that’s a bit misleading since modern boilers don’t actually boil the water – they heat it to 145 – 190 degrees Fahrenheit.
Boiler maintenance is critical. A well-maintained high-quality cast iron boiler can last from 50 – 75 years. But be aware that a boiler more than 25 years old may not have the energy saving and safety devices found on newer models. With newer models, homeowners can enjoy up to 40% savings on energy usage with better heat output. So whether you need annual boiler maintenance, boiler repair, or would like to replace an aging boiler system, we can help.
We’ll inspect your boiler system and make recommendations for maintenance, repairs, upgrades, and replacements. We’ll inspect the entire heating system, making sure the water is flowing efficiently and each device is working properly.

FAQ
What's the difference between a boiler and a furnace?
A boiler is part of a heating system that heats your home by using water. A hot water boiler system circulates water in the heat exchanger of your boiler, which is then pumped through pipes to heat baseboards or radiators before returning to the unit to start the cycle all over again. Read More A furnace is part of a heating system that heats your home with hot air. A blower motor moves air through the furnace where it is heated and then distributes the hot air throughout a home’s duct system. The heat is then released from the duct system through the vents and registers in your home.Read Less
How often should I have my boiler serviced?
We, along with most manufacturers and contractors, recommend a yearly checkup of your boiler system. These inspections can help catch small fixes before they become expensive repairs, and also maintain the health and safety of your boiler system.
Does a boiler heat hot water for my home as well?
Some “combi” boilers can heat hot water for your home, as well as provide heat. Other boiler systems can use an external water tank called an indirect water heater to heat and store hot water for showers, etc.
Can I add zones to my heating system?
Of course! Adding zones to your heating system can help keep the main living areas of your home warm and comfortable, while maximizing energy efficiency by lowering the heat in unoccupied rooms or other areas of your home that don’t need as much warmth.
